We have had Slowine on our
House Wine list for a while now, and those are the wines we like
to drink and serve by the glass, rather than the cheap hooch out
the back! As we are teaming up with the producer for a wine evening
on our birthday, we thought they'd be perfect for our first wine
review on our new website. So here it goes ...
Slowine Chenin Blanc-Sauvignon Blanc 2005
The ideal anytime wine with its friendly fruity nature and easy
texture; this is the wine for fresh grilled fish, roasted 'Label
Anglaise' free-range chicken, oven-roasted vegetables or white
cheeses. Beautiful aromas of guava, gooseberry and ripe tropical
fruit tantalize the nose and follow through to a balanced mouthful
that’s supple
and refreshing.
Slowine Rosé 2005
Cheerful in colour and character, this dry wine is balanced and
refreshing plus a great pair for light and fresh foods like roasted
farm tomato soup, Mezze platters, lamb bredie (stew), Moroccan
lamb tagine, or even a light Malay curry. Bright salmon pink in
colour, with the fragrance of ripe strawberries – and some black cherries in
support. A tasty, harmonious and invigorating wine with the sugar
and acids in great balance for lingering pleasure.
Slowine Merlot 2004
This is a delicious red for day-dreaming or with some very slowly
roasted lamb on any lazy day, and especially Sundays. Soft, juicy
fruits with seductive touches of violets and chocolate, this is a
soft and easy wine with generous flavour and a gentle, lasting finish,
the wine also suits wild meats like grilled springbok loin or ostrich
and is the perfect companion to confit duck.
